Everest 2025

On April 10, 2025 - Grace and Jason set out to climb Mt Everest, the tallest mountain in the world standing at 29,017ft / 8,849m. This is their 7th and final mountain of the Seven Summits. They are guided by Ryan Waters and his company Mountain Professionals. The live tracking map above documents their 45-day Everest journey.

Everest Timeline:

  • February 5 - April 2: Full-time physical training with Liam Saechao of Impact Fitness in Oakland, California. He’s been our strength and endurance coach for 4 (Vinson, Denali, Carstensz Pyramid, Everest) of the 7 Summits.

  • April 5 - April 10: Arrival in Kathmandu. Check for gear, meet the team, and adjust to the new time zone.

    Everest Base Camp Trek Begins

  • April 10 (Day 01): Helicopter flight from Kathmandu to Surkey (2,250m / 7,382ft) to start our Everest Base Camp trek. After we landed, we walked up to Lukla (2,850m / 9,350ft) and stayed at Hikers Inn for the night.

  • April 11 (Day 02): Lukla to Phakding (2,620m / 8,595ft) and checked into See You Lodge.

  • April 12 (Day 03): Phakding to Namche (3,443m / 11,293ft) and checked into Hotel Camp de Base.

  • April 13 (Day 04): Rest day in Namche. We went for a short walk up to the Tenzing Norgay Statue and the Sherpa Museum where we had our first view of Everest and Lhotse. Also visited Sherpa Barista Cafe, Yakbuck Coffee, Tomadachi Restaurant, and got a haircut at Himalayan Salon.

  • April 14 (Day 05): Namche to Deboche (3,735m / 12,254ft) and checked into Rivendell Lodge. Along the way, we visited the Tengboche Monastery.

  • April 15 (Day 06): Deboche to Dingboche (4,346m / 14,258ft) and checked into Chomolungma Hotel & Restaurant. We stopped at the Pangboche Monastery along the way where we had a Puja Ceremony.

  • April 16 (Day 07): Rest day in Dingboche. We went on an acclimatization hike up Narkang Hill. Checked out Cafe 4410 and also Dingboche Inn.

  • April 17 (Day 08): Dingboche to Lobuche (4,933m / 16,190ft) and checked into Himalayan Eco Resort. Passed by the small town of Thukla (4,620m / 15,159ft) along the way for a lunch break at Kalapathar Lodge Thukla. In Lobuche, we checked out the World’s Highest Bakery. This was also the day our drone permit was received.

  • April 18 (Day 09): Lobuche to Gorakshep (5,150m / 16,896ft) and checked into Snowland Highest Inn. After lunch at the teahouse, we went for an acclimitization hike to the Kala Patthar summit (18,501ft / 5,639m).

    Reached Everest Base Camp

  • April 19 (Day 10): Gorakshep to EBC (5,280m / 17,324ft). Rolled into Everest Base camp (EBC) after taking photos at Trekker’s Rock. The Mountain Professionals BC is near the start of the Khumbu Icefall.

  • April 20 (Day 11): EBC Rest Day

    Rotation 1 to Lobuche East Begins

  • April 21 (Day 12): EBC to Lobuche (4,933m / 16,190ft) and checked into Sherpa Lodge.

  • April 22 (Day 13): Lobuche to Lobuche High Camp (5,400m / 17,716 ft) where we rested in a tent.

  • April 23 (Day 14): Lobuche East Summit (6,119m / 20,075 ft). We started shortly after 2am and reached the summit at 7:30am. We then headed down all the way to Lobuche and checked into the Himalayan Eco Resort.

    Back to Everest Base Camp

  • April 24 (Day 15): Lobuche to EBC (5,280m / 17,324ft)

  • April 25 - May 2 (Day 16 to Day 23): EBC. We had rest days on April 25, 26, 28 and May 1 & 2.

    • April 26 (Day 17): Puja Ceremony at base camp

    • April 27 (Day 18): Acclimatization hike to Pumori High Camp (5,628m / 18,465ft)

    • April 28 (Day 19): Gear check and basic briefing for Rotation 2

    • April 29 & April 30 (Day 20 & Day 21): Khumbu icefall training. Practiced crossing ladders, ascending, rappelling, and changing anchors.

    Rotation 2 to Camp 3 Begins

  • May 3 (Day 24): EBC to Camp 1 (6,054m / 19,860ft) through the Khumbu Icefall. Departed at 2:24am from base camp and reached Camp 1 at 10:51am.

  • May 4 (Day 25): Camp 1 to Camp 2 (6,472m / 21,233ft). Departed at 8:15am from Camp 1 and reached our Camp 2 on a hill at 11:54am.

  • May 5 (Day 26): Camp 2 Rest Day. Went for a short walk around Camp 2 for exercise.

  • May 6 (Day 27): Camp 2 to Camp 3 (7,038m / 23,089ft) to Camp 2. Departed Camp 2 at 6:22am, reached the base of the Lhotse Face at 8:54am, and arrived at Camp 3 at 11:35am. Headed back down at 12:23pm and quickly got down the Lhotse Face at 1:36pm before reaching Camp 2 at 2:35pm.

  • May 7 (Day 28): Camp 2 to EBC. Departed Camp 2 at 6:35am, reached Camp 1 at 7:40am, and base camp at 12:33pm.

  • May 8 - May 15 (Day 29 to Day 36): EBC for rest before Summit Push

    • May 10 (Day 31): Hike up to the left of Pumori High Camp for exercise

    • May 12 (Day 33): Picked out freeze-dried meals for Camp 4. Tested oxygen masks, regulators, and oxygen tanks.

    Everest Summit Push

  • May 16 (Day 37): EBC to Camp 2 (6,472m / 21,233ft). Departed from Base Camp at 1:18am and arrived at Camp 1 at 7:29am after going through the Khumbu Icefall. Took a 58min break at Camp 1 before continuing onto Camp 2, arriving at 12:21pm.

  • May 17 (Day 38): Camp 2 Rest Day

  • May 18 (Day 39): Camp 2 to Camp 3 (7,094m / 23,275ft). Departed from Camp 2 at 6:52am with 0.5L oxygen flow and reached the bottom of the Lhotse Face at 9:37am. Continued up with 1.5L oxygen flow until we reached the top of Camp 3 at 12:31pm.

  • May 19 (Day 40): Camp 3 to Camp 4 (7,907m / 25,943m). Departed from Camp 3 at 6:14am with 0.5L oxygen flow. Reached Lhotse High Camp at 3:43pm for a break and upped to 2L oxygen flow. Arrived at Camp 4 at 4:04pm to very high winds that were destroying tents.

  • May 20 (Day 41): Camp 4 Rest Day. Due to continued high winds, we decided not to pursue the summit just yet and took a day to rest and postponed our summit bid by 24 hours.

  • May 21 (Day 42): Summit Day. We began at 11:44pm on May 20th with 2L oxygen flow. We took our first real break at 7:46am before the South Summit. It was windy so it was hard to break anytime before then, especially at The Balcony. We reached the South Summit at 10:09am and finally the actual summit at 1:16pm. We returned back down to Camp 4 at 7:59pm, making it a 19hr and 15min summit day roundtrip from Camp 4.

  • May 22 (Day 43): Camp 4 to Camp 2. Departed Camp 4 at 10:43am, reaching Camp 3 at 3:03pm due to heavy two-way traffic and Camp 2 at 6:31pm.

  • May 23 (Day 44): Camp 2 to Base Camp. Departed Camp 2 at 8:27am, reaching Camp 1 at 9:42am, and Base Camp at 2:33pm.

  • May 24 (Day 45): Base Camp to Kathmandu. The end of our Everest Journey. At 7:24am, we got on a helicopter from Base Camp to Pheriche and then to Lukla, arriving at 7:44am. Then we caught another chopper that took us to Kathmandu, arriving at 10:05am.
